Optoma has released an upgraded version of its ultra short throw home entertainment projector. The new GT5000+, which is brighter than its predecessor at 3,600 lumens, can project an image 100-inches across from a distance of 30cm.

With an input lag of 33ms, the company says it’s ideal for games use, as well as 1080p movie projection and photos sharing. The throw ratio is 0.25:1.

Connectivity includes two HDMIs and twin VGA inputs. Control options include a 12v trigger, RJ45 and RS232. Operating noise is 28dB.

The all-white model is equipped with a built-in speaker and 16W amplifier. There’s also an audio output, if users prefer to use an external sound system. The projector measures 385 x 310 x 120mm (w/d/h) and weighs 4.78kg.

Likely sources include Blu-ray, Optoma’s own HDCast Pro, Google Chromecast, Amazon Fire or Apple TV. The GT5000+ is also 3D compatible, supporting a 144Hz rapid refresh rate. The 3D-sync port can connect to an Optoma ZF2300 starter kit – required for 3D viewing (which is sold separately).

“This high brightness, ultra-short throw GT5000+ creates an exceptional 100-inch Full HD experience that can be installed, tidied away after use or taken with you,” says Optoma Head of EMEA Marketing, Joe Ahmed.

Installers can partner the UST projector with Optoma’s 100-inch ambient light rejecting ALR100 screen.

The GT5000+ retails for £1,100.
