Monitor Audio has launched a compact stereo soundbar, the ASB-10, and wireless low-profile subwoofer, the WS-10. Features include an integrated Dolby Digital/ Pro-Logic II decoder, and a proprietary driver/amp configuration. The system employs Bluetooth aptX.
The ASB-10 measures just under a metre in length, and can be installed on-wall or on a tabletop. The slim polymer cabinet has black cloth grille and brushed aluminium end trims. Inside is an array of four Monitor Audio 3-inch C-CAM bass drivers, allied to passive bass radiators, and twin 25mm Gold Dome C-CAM tweeters.
This drive-unit configuration utilises four individually calibrated integral DSP-trimmed amplifiers, designed to create audio that belies the size of the soundbar.
Connectivity comprises both optical and coaxial digital audio inputs, and a 3.5mm input. A Dolby Virtual Speaker processor can be used to enhance the audio soundfield.
The optional 2.4GHz wireless WS-10 active subwoofer, has a three-position EQ and features an 8-inch C-CAM driver powered by a 120 watt amplifier. and offers volume and phase control, plus wired LFE and 12V inputs for integration with an AV receiver in alternative system applications. The WS-10 can also connect wire-free to other systems via Monitor Audio’s new WT-1 transmitter module.
The low profile WS-10 measures 173 x 373 x 477mm and can be positioned beneath furniture, along room boundaries or in corners. The ASB10 soundbar and WS-10 subwoofer retail for £399 and £299 respectively.
