Japanese high-end audio specialist Luxman has introduced a specia edition valve preamp and power amplifier, to celebrate its tenth decade of production.

The CL-38uSE and MQ-88uSE pay tribute to classic Luxman design concepts, but feature custom made parts and high-performance valves from Slovakia JJ Electronics.

The CL-38uSE valve pre-amp (pictured above) apes the design and features of the CL-35 control amplifier introduced in 1970. The model is housed in a retro wooden cabinet with aluminium control knobs and switches. It’s equipped with a multi-function tone control and phono equalizer, and is optimised for analogue record playback. There’s a three-stage treble and bass tone control, in addition a switch for mono playback plus a low-cut switch to suppress unwanted low-frequency vibrations from warped records.

The MQ-88uSE (pictured above) is based on the classic MQ-60 stereo power amplifier. It’s equipped with both fixed and variable inputs, the latter enabling direct connection with any source component without a preamplifier. It delivers 2x25W into 6 ohms with pure Class A operation.

During production, each CL-38uSE and MQ-88uSE undergoes a 48-hour test and burn-in process before the final performance and specification of each unit is confirmed.
