There are big changes coming to this summer’s IFA technology show (September 1-6, Berlin). A new hall for startups and research labs, to be called IFA Next, will be joined by an entirely separate sister event, called IFA Global Markets. The move is the biggest reshuffle of the European super-show since the introduction of appliances ten years ago. Organisers say that as a result there will be more space for brands than ever.
Speaking at the IFA Global Press Conference 2017, held recently in Lisbon, Organisers gfu and Messe Berlin said IFA Next will provide a new unified platform for companies at the edge of innovation their own platform. IFA Next replaces IFA TecWatch.
Based in Hall 26, alongside the IFA keynotes and conferences, the position is significantly at the heart of the show.
The new sister show, IFA Global Markets, will run parallel. Dr. Christian Göke, CEO of Messe Berlin (pictured above), declared that IFA Global Market would launch as Europe’s largest sourcing show, a venue where manufacturers can show their design and source components for future products. The idea, says Göke, is to reflect the end-to-end supply chain, from component manufacturers to OEMs and ODMs.
IFA Global Markets will run from September 3-6, at Station Berlin near Potsdamer Platz. A shuttle service will transport visitors between the new site and the IFA Messe.
No other trade show is able to meet all the demands of industry, retailers, consumers and media participants like IFA, insists gfu chairman Hans-Joachim Kamp.
