The BeoSound Shape is a wall-mounted, modular speaker that features a hexagonal tile design which can be placed in any configuration and size. A combination of speaker, amplifier and acoustic damper tile, it can be arranged in designs of six and up, and tailored to complement any interior design.
A variety of colours and textiles are available, including Parisian Night Blue, Purple Heart, Infantry Green, Brazilian Clay, Wild Dove Grey and Black. A collaboration with Danish textile manufacturer Kvadrat adds additional wool fabrics and colours.
Literally a wall of sound, Bang & Olufsen suggests that the speaker is ideal for large residential spaces, shops, studios, showrooms, offices and hotel lobbies.
“Audiotory indoor climate is essential for our physical and mental well-being, just like natural lighting, fresh air and ergonomics. BeoSound Shape forms an excellent answer to the challenges of interior acoustics through its intelligent sound distribution and resonance absorbing effects” says Marie Kristine Schmidt, Vice President Brand, Design and Marketing.
An upmixing algorithm is said to create a “crisp and precise soundscape with the vocal performer in the centre and the instruments to the sides. We call this the Band on the wall. The ambition is to produce a sound experience as if the band was literally placed up against the wall doing a live performance allowing the audience to move freely around a room.”
The system supports Bluetooth, AirPlay and Chromecast. It’s also compatible with Bang & Olufsen and B&O Play multiroom products.
The BeoSound Shape launches in August. Price is dependant on size, acoustical performance, and fabric choice. A standard set-up is expected to retail for £3,400.
